The city of Salsomaggiore lies between hilly terrain and flat areas, where rivers slow down and tend to widen, creating larger valleys that are more suitable for human habitation. Among these valleys, the Po Valley dominates the landscape of the city. From this, a series of slopes defines the borders of the urban area of Salsomaggiore.
The project envisions a residential complex consisting of five residences perched on the highest part of the city. At the base of the site, a series of stone walls will delineate the private area from the residential space. A densely wooded buffer zone will separate the complex from the houses below, serving the dual purpose of filtering the urban context underneath and enhancing soil retention.
The residences are designed with two levels. The ground floor includes a double garage and living area, which encompasses a kitchen, living room, library, one bathroom, and a guest room. The -1 floor features three bedrooms, a technical room, and direct access to an outdoor area.
