The Pedreiras House is a contemporary house that spreads across two floors, situated on the steep Arrábida landscape and elevated above ground level by a series of pilotis. The circular pillars, made of reinforced concrete, give the house a distinctive appearance, visible in the concrete walls and fences externally.
The design emphasizes a harmonious connection with its natural surroundings while maintaining a strong architectural identity.
Due to its lower elevation relative to the bordering road, the house has a subtle presence at the entrance, blending into the landscape and making it almost unnoticed by passersby.
Inside, the house is organized around a central axis that separates the private and communal spaces. The bedrooms locate on one side, while the common areas are on the opposite side.
The living areas are positioned near the balcony, offering direct access to views of the surrounding mountain landscape. Adjacent to the kitchen, a flight of stairs leads down to the lower floor, where the technical spaces are located, including utility rooms and storage.
